My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each student, whether child or adult, should have the opportunity to learn as much about the world around them as possible, as much about themselves as they can, and enough about society to become a vital, productive member of it.  My role as an educator is not simply to provide the basic information for students to remember but rather to provide them with tools that will allow them to develop their own opinions and ideas that they need to become a positive member of our world.  As an alternative education instructor, I understand that not every child or adult learns at the same pace.  I also see the damage that can be caused when students are left behind.  I believe that every student, regardless of age, deserves to learn; it is a student's right to do so.  It is up to me, and my fellow educators, to find the best way of reaching each and every individual who walks into my classroom.
